Poor credit quality continues to be a major challenge in microfinance sector. Sound credit risk assessment and valuation processes, including well-structured loan classification systems and robust loan loss provisioning practic- es, are critical building blocks to guarantee the safety and soundness of a microfinance institution (MFI).
