The quarterly performance indicates an industry that has recorded substantial improvements in key areas of outreach, profitability, sustainability and portfolio quality. This is largely due to the rebound of lending activities, increased revenue streams as well as managed costs through the use of technology to improve efficiency and productivity.

ZAMFI Launches Regulatory Review on the Microfinance Sector

The Zimbabwe Association of Microfinance Institutions (ZAMFI) today used the occasion of their 3rd Annual Microfinance Sector Winter School in Kariba, to launch a regulatory review of their sector. The Winter School is taking place from 18 and 20 May under the theme “Tranversing the Microfinance Landscape”.

ZAMFI Summary

ZAMFI (Zimbabwe Assocition for Microfinance Institutions) is the umbrella body for microfinance institutions. Our vision is to transform the quality of life of the poor and marginalised communities. Our mission is to advocate for an enabling regulatory and funding environment and to promote best practices in the provision of demand- driven services for the growth of the microfinance industry in Zimbabwe.


Beatrice Chitsika is responsible for the programmes department. She is an expert for the rural microfinance programme & mainstreaming gender, HIV/AIDS into the microfinance sector .  Beatrice has 14 years experience in microfinance and training of trainers in both urban and rural communities of Zimbabwe. Prior to joining ZAMFI she has worked in microfinance projects for SOS Children’s Villages, Farm Community Trust, CARE International and Credit Against Poverty.

Beatrice Chitsika holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration, a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management and a Business Studies Degree from the University of Zimbabwe.
